BUDE
4; GORAN 2
A
tremendous start to the season for Bude, with a convincing win over hard working
Goran. The back four of Watts, Wosnitzka, Fry and Faid did superbly well in
dealing with the Goran attack, and a great Warburton corner found Bickle to
shoot Bude's first goal. Mitchell narrowly missed with a good effort and Bickle
got the second after some good midfield work from Watts and Warburton, then yet
another Warburton/Bickle combination saw Bickle claim his hat-trick. After the
break Goran tested Bude with a series of good shots, Watty making it 3-1 with a
diving header and then 3-2 after sustained pressure saw a mis-directed clearance
find Bude's own net. The lads dug in, however, with Stubbs, Sellars and Miles
working hard all over the pitch and Davis pulling the strings in midfield. Whyte
was solid in goal when called upon for Bude, and it was game over when Watton
stabbed in the fourth a minute from time.

BUDE
4; ATLANTIC PORTH ROVERS 0
Another
impressive display from Bude against a battling Rovers side. Good work from
Davis found Warburton whose shot hit the post early on. Then Watton's long range
effort forced Rovers 'keeper into a fine save. Soon after a great lob from
Peschke gave Bude the lead. Whyte commanded his goal well, while Wosnitzka and
Fry were vocal and firm in the central defence. A super shot from Faid in the
second half brought the best save of the match from Rovers' Hawkey, then a
dangerous Rovers attack saw them hit the bar. Any Bude nerves were settled,
however when Sellars rode two tackles before shooting them into a two goal lead.
Bude took control now with Stubbs shooting just wide, Miles working hard for his
team-mates and Rowlands making a fine diving save to deny Rovers a goal. Then a
moment of pure Brazil saw Watts thunder a bending shot into the top of the net
from distance. Finally Bickles first-time ball fell to Mitchell who made no
mistake to leave it 4-0 to Bude.

BODMIN DRAGONS 1; BUDE
4
Manager Dean Davis will be well pleased with this performance, a third win on the trot for Bude against a Bodmin side who refused to give in until the final whistle.
In Wosnitzka's absence, Warburton did a tremendous job in defence with partner Fry, and with Watts and Faid either side Bude were formidable at the back. White made some valuable saves, and Rowlands coming on in the second half dived brilliantly to deny the home side a penalty. A cross from Bickle found Mitchell who always looked dangerous, and he made no mistake to slot it home for 1-0 to Bude. A nice Faid/Mitchell combination then saw the ball put in for Stubbs to make it 2-0. Just before half-time Davis threaded it through to Bickle to score Bude's third. Watton saw a curling left-foot shot well saved, and Miles played some spirited football against a big Bodmin defence who were finding the tireless Peschke and a determined Sellars thorns in their side. A Davis long range special found the net to make it 4 to Bude, but to their credit Bodmin's heads never dropped and they got a deserved consolation goal through Hoskins.

BUDE
5; NANSTALLON 3
This top-of-the-table clash saw Bude overcome Nanstallon with skill and sheer effort.Nanstallon started the brighter, going in front through Pas, but 'keeper White was equal to everything else, as was the back four of hard working Stubbs, tough tackling Watts, ever reliable Fry and "Marshall" Wosnitzka keeping the defence as hard to crack as a walnut. Davis had a couple of good shots well saved, and Sellars too was working hard to bring Bude back into the game, and it was Watton who levelled for Bude before half-time. Bickle's fancy footwork found him some space to crack a lovely shot to put Bude ahead, and Miles was so unlucky with Nanstallon 'keeper Lane saving twice at his feet. Bickle then lobbed the keeper to make it 3-1 and Warburton latched on to a pass to shoot Bude into a 4-1 lead which allowed the lads to relax a little - a costly mistake as it was soon 4-3 through Davidson and a great strike by Pas! Second half 'keeper Rowlands kept his nerve for Bude, however, as did the tireless Peschke, and it was all over when a magnificent through-ball from Faid found Warburton who scored to cap a superb personal - and team - performance.

TINTAGEL 3; BUDE
4
Five wins
from five now for Bude, although great credit must go to Tintagel for battling
until the final whistle.
Warburton
went close early on , as did Sellars and Watton with all the first-half pressure
coming from Bude. Davis "The Long Ranger" opened Bude's account from distance,
then Bickle cleverly slotted home for 2-0. Tintagel made it 2-1 before Davis hit
another of his specials for 3-1. Bickle confounded Tintagels defence then
stabbed it into the net for 4-1 to Bude. The team were all playing their
part-Stubbs and Faid menaced the wings, Fry's clinical clearances, Peschke's
runs and Miles' forays into the box were a constant threat but when Wosnitzka
had to save off the goal line the writing was on the wall for Bude......in
capital letters! Rowlands was doing well in goal, but two strikes later it was
4-3 and Bude were on their way to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. The
lads regained their composure, however, with White crossing well for the
strikers, and on the whole it was another competent and assured
win.

LIFTON 2; BUDE
1
This was a
match where a result was going to have to be ground out in the mud - and fair
play to Lifton for their sheer hard work in winning it. Bude shouldn't be too
hard on themselves, however, their controlled passing game was stunted by the
surface but they still showed why they've had such a good start to the season.
Bickle and Warburton played very well off each other as did Faid and Miles.
Watton and Davis worked hard in midfield to get control of the game, and
defenders Wosnitzka and Stubbs threw themselves into every tackle but a push in
the box gave danger man Williams the chance to put Lifton in front from the spot
which he duly took. For Bude, Watson, back from injury looked sharp but it was
the commitment of Peschke that paid off when he equalised with a deft
side-footed shot. Sellars was getting involved, and Fry made a magnificent
tackle to deny Lifton, and for all Rowlands efforts in goal, there was nothing
he could do when Bray stole in to grab the three points for the home
side.

ATLANTIC PORTH ROVERS 2; BUDE
1
This was
the Bude's first game in over two months, and for much of the game it showed.
All credit to Rovers however, who dug out a superb victory against, you'd have
to say, the favourites. Two early strikes from Wilkinson and Lee gave Rovers the
advantage, and although Watton made it 2-1 with a lovely strike, Rovers were
soon back in the driving seat at 3-1 through Scott. Now Bude were starting to
play, with Wosnitzka, Fry and Watts solid in defence in front of Rowlands in
goal, and Faid, Mitchell, Peschke and Miles dominating the flanks Bude were
virtually encamped in the Rovers' half, and a great lob from Warburton made it
3-2. Watson then thundered it into the top corner to equalise. Davis was working
hard in midfield, and with Stubbs hitting the post and Bickle going close the
comeback was on until Wilkinson put Rovers ahead from a free-kick. Heartbreak
all round for Bude, but at least they'll have run off their figgy pudding and be
raring to go next time!

BUDE
5; BODMIN DRAGONS 0
The early
exchanges were fairly even, although Bodmin were never able to create any clear
cut opportunities, thanks to a resolute back four led by Warburton and
Wosnitzka. (Writes Ken Bickle) Bude were far more incisive but it was 15 minutes
before the opening goal. An attempted clearance was blocked on the half way line
and Watton ran in on goal from the right wing and scored with a crisp shot
across ‘keeper Jennings. There was plenty of good football played by both sides
but it was well into the second half before Bickle made space for himself with a
good turn in the box to score the second goal. As the Dragons ran out of puff,
Bude added further goals. Firstly when Peschke’s direct running gave him a
chance and his shot was beaten out by Jennings only as far as Watson who
followed up to make it 3-0 Sellers, on at half time was playing well and linking
up with Davis and Faid to cause numerous problems on the left flank. It was by
this route that Watton was put in, to again give the ‘keeper no chance. In the
dying moments Peschke stormed through in typical fashion to make it 5-0 with a
ferocious strike, which even Pat Jennings wouldn’t have sniffed. This was a game
played in such good spirit that there was hardly a free kick awarded throughout.

GORRAN 1; BUDE
8
A super win
for Bude against battling Gorran who never gave up the contest. There was some
good work from Warburton who fed Bickle to give Bude an early lead, and Bickle
doubled his tally from a corner soon after. Gorran's attacks were dealt with
superbly by Wosnitzka and Fry at the back, while White's cool handling between
the sticks was again worthy of note. Watton made it 3-0 when he powered home a
wonderful through-ball by Davis. Then Watton found Bickle who slotted in his
hat-trick. Faid and Stubbs' wing wizardry was a constant worry for the home
side, but all due credit as they battled back in the second half, beat the
offside and scored a deserved goal through Newton. It was soon 5-1 , however,
when Watton scored after great work from Sellars on the wing. Mitchell cooly
slotted home for 6-1, and again for 7-1. Bude still threatened with Miles and
Watson on the attack, and Rowlands would have scored were it not for superb
keeping by Gorran's Gordon in goal. The game ended 8-1 when Bickle kept a cool
head in a one-on-one.

NANSTALLON 1; BUDE
5
A
confident, courageous and typically cohesive display again from Bude against
high flying Nanstallon, who were no pushovers in this good natured fixture. A
lovely cross field ball from Stubbs found Mitchell who tucked it in to make it
1-0. Nanstallon then came back with a great shot on the turn by Simmons, and
then hit the post, showing why they are near the top of this league. Bude's
defence then shut up shop with commanding displays from Fry, Wosnitzka,
Warburton and Faid who headed off the line to keep Bude in it. Battling Watton
went on a mazey run down the left and struck a superb shot for 2-1, then Miles'
trickery on the ball eventually found Bickle who made it 3-1. Nanstallon kept
plugging away, but Watson's bravery and Davis' silky midfield skills were
helping to keep most attacks at bay. White in goal for Bude made some fine saves
when needed, and it was 4-1 when Sellars capped a strong performance with a shot
across the 'keeper. Bickle bagged his brace with a neat side foot to seal the
win.

BUDE
1; LIFTON 2
This was a
case of Bude failing to capitalise on a strong performance against a stubborn
Lifton side. The gritty and skillful back four of Fry, Wosnitzka, Warburton and
Faid in front of Rowlands in goal had little to worry them in the first half,
yet went in trailing 1-0 to a Batten goal. Lifton came out much stronger in the
second half, hitting the bar and Watson getting back to make a great goal line
clearance for Bude.White was busier in goal, but Bude were never out of this
game, and when Peschke went on an epic run and buried the ball in the net for
1-1 it looked like the home side would win it. Davis and Watton were solid and
inventive in midfield, with Sellars and Stubbs constantly harrassing the Lifton
defence from the wings. Mitchell went close a few times and Bickle hit the post,
but Lifton took their chances well, and spoiled the party when Monk knocked it
in from danger man Williams' free kick.

ATLANTIC PORTH ARGYLE 1; BUDE
0
Its good to
test yourselves against the best. Argyle are certainly a class act, and Bude
manager Dean Davis will be proud that his team gave them their toughest test all
season, and could well have come away with a deserved win. White made some
comfortable saves, but there was nothing he could do when Argyle broke the
offside trap by the thickness of a Rizla, and Harris netted deep into the second
half. Fry, Wosnitzka, Warburton and Faid oozed defensive class for Bude from
start to finish, and tough tackling from Davis, Watton, Mitchell and Stubbs
ensured Argyle had a battle on their hands in midfield. Watson and Bickle were
thorns in the side of a solid Argyle defence, and strong performances yet again
from Peschke and Sellars were enough to leave Argyle hanging on in the last ten
minutes. It wasn't to be, but well done lads for a great performance played in
exactly the right spirit.

BUDE
2; CHARLESTOWN 2
Another
fine performance from Bude, who gave a good Charlestown side plenty to worry
about throughout this game. White was strong in goal when needed, and
centre-backs Wosnitzka and Warburton solid and resolute. Faid was linking up
well with Mitchell, who pounced on a great through-ball by Watson to put Bude in
front. Special mention to Fry who was magnificent at right-back, and it was 2-0
when Watton's clever ball split Charlestown's solid defence for Bickle to coolly
slot in. After the break, Charlestown showed more of what they're made of, and
Lithgo knocked it in from a free-kick for 2-1. Bude came back, however, with
Miles going close, Davis and Stubbs tackling bravely, and Peschke and Sellars
working the wings really well. Charlestown shaded the offside trap and equalised
with the last kick of the match through Hammond. Well played all the lads
involved.

BUDE
2; TINTAGEL 0
A well
deserved win against a Tintagel side who are much better than their league
position would suggest. Bude needed to work hard in midfield , and did, with
Davis and Watton gaining control and feeding the wings, where Sellars, Watson
and Stubbs were dynamic in both their tackling and passing. Rowlands in goal had
little to do in the first half but came out well when called upon, and it was
1-0 when Peschke pounced onto a touch by "Lightning" Mitchell and slotted in.
Tintagel were stronger in the second half, but great tackling by Bude's very own
defensive "Fantastic Four" - Fry, Wosnitzka, Warburton and Faid kept them at
bay, and White was safe hands when needed between the sticks. Miles threatened
up front, but it was strike partner Bickle's mazy run and careful strike which
left it 2-0 to Bude.

CHARLESTOWN 2; BUDE

Bude
battled strongly when 2-0 down and did enough to have won this match in the
second half but it was not to be. Lots of early pressure from Charlestown saw
Hammond head them into the lead, and White made some excellent saves to keep
Bude in it. Fry, Warburton and Wosnitzka held fast at the back with some strong
tackling, and Davis worked very hard to supply Mitchell and Bickle who were both
unlucky not to score as Bude fought back after half time. Rowlands kept Bude in
it twice in the second half, but there was nothing he could do when Hammond put
Charlestown 2-0 up from a free-kick much against the run of play. Bude attacked
relentlessly with Peschke, Watson and Stubbs helping to pile on the pressure,
and the comeback seemed on when Faid curled a Beckham-like free-kick into the
roof of the net, but despite hard work from Watton and Miles, and a great
fighting spirit throughout, luckless Bude's season ended with a defeat.
